- Students will practice planning and describing a traditional Godna festival.
- Students will develop speaking, writing, and cultural knowledge skills in Hindi.

गोदना भारत की एक प्राचीन कला और सांस्कृतिक परंपरा है। पुराने समय में लोग शरीर पर गोदना बनवाते थे ताकि उनकी पहचान बनी रहे, बुरी आत्माओं से रक्षा हो, और धार्मिक आस्था प्रकट हो। गोदना विशेष रूप से आदिवासी समुदायों, जैसे गोंड, संथाल और भील में बहुत लोकप्रिय है। यह परंपरा मुख्यतः बिहार, छत्तीसगढ़, मध्य प्रदेश और झारखंड में अधिक देखी जाती है। माना जाता है कि मृत्यु के बाद भी शरीर पर बना गोदना आत्मा के साथ जाएगा। आमतौर पर फूल, पत्ती, सूरज, चाँद, जानवरों और धार्मिक चिन्हों के डिज़ाइन बनाए जाते थे। महिलाओं के बीच यह परंपरा बहुत प्रचलित रही है, जहाँ वे शादी, त्योहार या जीवन की खास घटनाओं पर गोदना बनवाती थीं। आज भी गोदना भारतीय लोक संस्कृति का एक अहम हिस्सा है और अमेरिका में भी बहुत प्रसिद्ध हो गया है।

Plan a Mehndi/Godna Festival!
Students will imagine they are planning a Godna festival in their town.
Answer these questions (write 5-8 short sentences in Hindi):
- कहाँ होगा? (Where will it be?)
- कौन आएगा? (Who will come?)
- कौन से डिज़ाइन बनवाए जाएँगे? (What designs will be made?)
- क्या-क्या कार्यक्रम होंगे? (What activities will happen?)
- खाने-पीने में क्या होगा? (What food will be there?)
Sentence Starters:
- “हमारा गोदना उत्सव ___ में होगा।”
- “लोग ___ के चित्र बनवाएँगे।”
- “हम ___ गीत गायेंगे और ___ खाएँगे।”
Group Presentation (10-15 minutes)
- Each group will present their Godna festival plan.
- Use Hindi as much as possible (Hindi-English mix if needed).
- Show your Godna designs and answer simple questions (“आपका उत्सव कहाँ होगा?”, “कौन आएगा?” etc.).
